8 mile

ugh. sick.. again. being sick totally sucks. feel so lethargic and grumpy all the time. feeling better then yesterday already, not that much better, but better nonetheless.

finally got to watch 8 mile on monday. bah, apparently, i don't look 16. whatever. i hate the way they they gave 8 mile an nc-16 rating just because of the vulgarities and violence. i mean, it goes so much deeper than that. only shallow and immature people would go into the cinema thinking that being vulgar is "cool" and start immitating it. the movie's actually quite inspiring. about how you're the only one who can save yourself when you sink into depression and how you should never EVER give up on yourself even if no one else believes in you.

i didn't really like rap or eminem before i watched the movie. but i think that he showed some pretty impressive acting and rapping skills. wonder how long it takes someone to come up with such sharp lyrics that are straight to the point.

for that, the whole age harassment was totally worth it, even if i still keep getting teased by yuying about it. besides, i don't think it really makes a difference whether you turn 16 in a couple of months or weeks or even days. okay, so if the censorship board's worried about the maturity of the audience, would 2 weeks make a difference? and even if the person is 16, so what? there are people out there above age 16 who have the maturity of a 12 year old. i think that as long as someone turns 16 this year, they should be allowed to view movies that are rated nc-16. can't speak for everyone out there, but i think it doesn't make a bit of difference. thing is, however they try to screen all these acts of violence and vulgarity, somehow, kids still do pick them up along the way. sad, but true.
