past, present, future

oh you're like the sun, chasing all of the rain away.
when you come around you bring brighter days.

- always, atlantic starr

hmm.. not sure why i put that there. oh well, i'm known to do weird things. besides, it does show that i am in slightly better spirits today.

taking a break from reading up on hitler, the nazis and the holocaust. almost cried reading about the holocaust, i did. brought back vivid images from the pianist, which if you didn't watch, was very sad yet also a movie about determination and the strength of the human spirit. found myself in tears during bits of the movie. tears, both of horror and joy.

"the stories of what went on inside the death camps show just how inhumane mankind can get. for example, some prisoners were forced to act as sex-slaves and others were used for medical experiments, such as testing how much pain the human body could take before death occured. in one experiment, prisoners were put in icy water to see how long it took them to die. this provided useful imformation for germen pilots who were shot down over the sea."

someone once told me that the only thing we learn from history, is that we never learn anything from history. i believe it was yuying, but i could be wrong. perhaps she was right though. even as i sit here typing this, there is a war raging in the gulf. many innocent civillians die daily, while their leader hides like a coward. shan't start debating whether the americans were right, but would war ever be justified, i wonder.

i digress, time to start work yet again.
