the band concert and the barker carnival.

i just realised that i never really got around to talking about the band concert. anyway, the school band and handbell chior totally rocked the house! it was really quite an enjoyable evening. basically, they brought us through these eras of music, from baroque to classical (or was it the other way round? hmm..) and stuff like that. venetia's solo piece was fabulous but you could tell she was very nervous. she probably coudn't get enough air or something but despite skipping a couple of notes it was good and it probably took a lot of hardwork and guts to play solo in front of so many people (the auditorium was almost full!). anyhow, i think the MCs totally spoilt the show. they were pretty lame and failed to capture my attention for long periods of time and they couldn't even pronouce their words properly. like nostalgia came out as nose-talgia. but over all, i thought the concert was good.

hrm, on to what i did today. had to be up by like 8.40 this morning so i could leave the house at 9 and get to mel's house at 10 but i ended up over-sleeping and gettting there at 10.30. anyhow, i finally met melody, a friend of melissa's who i've heard quite a bit about. she studies in australia and is currently in town for the hols. she seemed really nice and sociable enough. to be honest, the acs carnival wasn't much fun, most of the games were catered to appeal to younger kids. i must say that there were quite a few really nice banners there. i wonder how much time they spent on it. there, we saw joslyn, yvonne, anne marie and a couple of other people, including miss miao and her boyfriend or fianc, should i say.

hung around with nicola for a bit after melody left and her mom gave us $60 worth of coupons because she had like $400 worth or something like that. after that, melissa had to go watch 'fame' and i had to go for chinese tuition so we went our seperate ways.

even though i dislike mandarin, i enjoy tuition. it's weird but i actually look forward to tuition. there's homework and everything but at least it isn't a drag like normal chinese lessons in school because it's livelier (is that how it's spelt? doesn't look right). anyhow, i just got home and so now i'm sitting here typing this.

so there you have it, a summation of my day. hopefully, i'll get down to studying for a chemistry test i have on tuesday later on. oh yeah, where i am, tomorrow's a school holiday. so yay!
