"Are we merely mirrors of society and people? The views of others sinking into us and shaping and moulding us according to the needs of others.

Our own beliefs can sometimes be rendered as nothing more than societal rights and wrongs. We are lead to believe that it is right because everyone SAYS its right. What are morals? What is right and wrong? Just because people say a statement doesnot mean the statement is not false. Are our values merely adopted from the environment we are in?

Children absorb knowledge at an extremely quick rate when they are young. Moral values are easily "programmed" into the child at this stage as all he is, is simply potential. We are not inherently evil, nor are we inherently good. In the end, we are just products of the system. The child is no different. Teach him that laughing means sadness and that sobbing is happiness and he would require alot of time later on in life to overcome this set of instructions.

Some may say that we are all born with an instinctive knowledge of right and wrong. If so, then how do we explain the child who picks up cnady and refuses to pay for it? He does not know better. Even then though, our definitions of morals defer from each other. What is correct and just to you may be unfair and cruel to me.

Right and wrong are merely our intrepretations of what we have been taught. We all most likely undergo very similar experiences that define our basic beliefs but to what extent our beliefs coincide with each other is dependent on how we have learnt from those experiences. We are the summation of our experiences, the distilled version of similiar morals and beliefs. And I highly doubt we'll ever agree totally on everything."

Thought I'd get this down before I head out. Committing myself to write something later, I suppose.

...Or not. We'll see.

Until then, Wan has to attend a meeting she's about to be late for. Toodles.

Love, Wan
