We Love Food!
Had dinner at Vansh today. It's this chic and cozy Indian Restaurant along Stadium Waterfront. The menu had a good mix of both non-vegetarian and vegetarian fare which is perfect for non-vegetarian people like me with family or friends who are grass-eaters. The place was stylish and very tastefully furnished and the service was great -- really friendly and prompt. The food ranged from pretty average to really great. Although, I've always felt that alot of the Indian cuisine is an acquired taste because of all the spices that goes into it.

All meals are started off with the standard pappadams, served as cigar rolls in a wine glass, with three chutneys. The Kulzza on the starters menu came bearing every resemblence of a pizza. It was topped with honey and sundried tomatoes and was surprisingly mild flavoured and appetizing.

Of the five main course dishes we ordered, I really enjoyed the Kokani Tiger Prawns which is chillied prawns with kokan spice. The prawns were fresh, sweet and succulent, carrying the sauce well without it masking the natural flavour of the prawns. Yum. The Saag Ghosht (lamb dices in spinach sauce) was also delicious, and I don't even really like lamb.

We decided to go with the Chilled Lychee Kulfi from the dessert menu which ended up to be a slightly creamy sherbert-looking dish. Being sweet but not overly-saccharine, it was a rather pleasant way of wrapping up the meal, despite the disappointment of the other more adventurous dessert item we decided to hazzard, a milk dumpling with saffron spice dish that had a very over-powering taste of saffron which we didn't enjoy at all.

Dinner for six came up to about $200, give or take a bit.

An enjoyable evening on the whole, even if slightly pricey as a regular hang out spot for a poor, struggling student like myself. Heh. Definitely somewhere I would consider going back to in the future though.

Go check it out!

Love, Wan
